Seleni Spotlight: Koundré Aimé Dieudonné Bah, Spring Intern
February 2022 - We are thrilled to welcome Koundré Aimé Dieudonné Bah as our spring intern through the Libra Group Internship Program. We sat down with Aimé for a Q&A.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, Aimé!
I am from Ivory Coast, currently studying at the African Leadership University in Rwanda, where I am in my third year pursuing a bachelor’s degree in international business and trade. I also have an associate degree in business management. I have gained practical experience through working with several companies in Rwanda, such as the African Leadership University, where I interned as a marketing and design intern for eight months. I also worked with the School of Wildlife Conservation as a social media and website intern, where I developed a keen interest in marketing, design and product management. I strongly believe that digital technologies have the power to change people's lives by providing solutions to everyday problems. I am a self-taught graphic and product designer with strong skills in digital marketing and advertising, brand management, leadership, and teamwork. I am passionate about making a positive impact and I am also an avid music lover. Moreover, I am confident that I am one of the coolest people you will ever meet.
Well, we are sure about that! What excites you most about being part of the Seleni family?
What excites me most is the opportunity to contribute to Seleni's mission of promoting mental health. I am passionate about using my skills and expertise to turn challenges into beautiful experiences, and I believe that mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being that is often neglected. I am eager to help people through the work I will be doing, especially through marketing and design, and to be a part of a team that is making a real difference in people's lives.
What is your favorite podcast, movie, book, or magazine related to the field of mental health?
As someone who is passionate about promoting mental health, I have a keen interest in learning more about the subject. One of my favorite resources is the book "Change Your Brain Every Day: Simple Daily Practices to Strengthen Your Mind, Memory, Moods, Focus, Energy, Habits, and Relationships" by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to improve their mental health and overall well-being. I appreciate the way that Dr. Amen writes about mental health in a way that is accessible and easy to understand.
How do you practice self-care?
Self-care is a crucial aspect of maintaining good mental health, and it's an important part of my daily routine. Adequate sleep — for me 7-8 hours every night — a healthy diet, mindfulness and meditation are essential to my routine. I also have a strong support system of family, friends, and I am not afraid to reach out to them when I need help or just need someone to talk to.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In addition to watching movies and talking to family, I love listening to music. Music has always been an important part of my life, and I enjoy listening to a variety of different genres, from gospel to jazz and blues. I find that listening to music helps me relax and unwind, and it's a great way to lift my mood and boost my energy levels.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
“Consistency and courage are indeed the keys to success in any aspect of life, whether it's in your personal or professional life.”
What’s a quote that you carry with you to uplift yourself?
Omar Khayyam: “Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”
